"2.5 stars No after care In hospital for MAJOR surgery! Care and attention whilst in hospital good. But less than a day later your despatched to zero support and a carrier bag of equipment to use at home like you are in a field hospital in the Crimea War. However for the brief time your in this kind of hotel/hospital; from cleaners to nursing staff attitude and customer service is great. But NO AFTER CARE. You are sent home with a carrier bag of bandages wound repair equipment. Like you are leaving for a battlefield and you are! Everything is hurried on departure like you are in some kind of hotel. Some women who had hysterectomies on the ward went home to nothing too. So great while your in there but once home forgotten. It's a conveyor belt so if it's a hip replacement etc or something simple ok. But being let out to the abyss at home is scary and problematic. Thank God for your own GP's service. And other NHS services Once the hospital pain relief wears off once you are HOME ALONE. It's agony. So routine surgery yes ✓ Any major surgery No X The surroundings are new and shiny. But the aftercare is hurried and missing. I imagine it's a bit like getting "Turkey Teeth"43 abroad great whilst your in the hospital. Not so good, once you get back to reality and there's no1 there to ask or assist once HOME entirely ALONE. Apart from signposting and freaking leaflets."
"I am scared to go back to the nurses at the x Ray department. I had a liver biopsy yesterday and was abused by the matron Gill Bourne Smith. She was bullying me and being patronising after I had the procedure. I stated I was Jewish because of issues surrounding dietary needs and she made the remark “can’t you just be normal like everyone else”. Gill lied to the team saying I was under general anesthetic of which I wasn’t - it was just local. She kept my back longer than I needed. I was sat up in bed and enquired if someone was picking me up. The person who was meant to be picking me had issues with his mother and couldn’t come. I was explaining this and she accused me of lying and I challenged her on it. She full on through her hands on the end of my bed, leaned over my bed to me and glared at me - giggling like a little girl. I informed her I have autism and PTSD and that she was making me feel frightened and she was patronising me. She said “don’t feel patronised little boy”. I told her to leave me at once and get her colleague. She never did. She was sniggering at me as she kept walking by and was dragging me around when she was doing my blood pressure. I never felt so angry but on edge on a hospital. The team wasn’t interested when I reported this. I’m reluctant to go back and will be consulting a solicitor. Their attitude stunk and I never felt so patronised and frightened. The matron Gill thought it was funny to abuse me after I said I was autistic."
"Disgus6ing behaviour from their A&E department. My son 2 years old head injury at 6.30pm was told at 9.20pm that he was not a priority and that he must wait to be seen! No one even assessed him for concussion, blood coming out of his ear where he had ripped his ear lobe deep cut blood all in his hair and was sat waiting! When asked when he would be seen to were told "we are understaffed and it not our problem, you just have to wait" 2 years old! Screaming his head off in pain not really understanding what's happening. And that was their solution ....sit and wait....with a potential concussion!!!"
"Brought my daughter to the Urgent Treatment Centre yesterday. (14th December, 4:30pm). She was experiencing difficulty breathing due to asthma and had run out of her inhaler. We were visiting family in Richmond and live in the South. She was seen and treated immediately and appropriately and we left within the hour with the medications she needs and her feeling 100% better. HCAs, nurses, doctor and pharmacy staff on duty were friendly and professional. Really impressed. Thank you!"
"Second spell as a patient and very happy with every aspect of service. Staff friendly; caring; professional and efficient. This has also been my experience as an outpatient."
