"I purchased a front&rear NextBase 522GW dashcam from Halford’s along with mobile installation on 6 Mar 2022 for total amount £311. The dashcam was installed in my vehicle at the time, a Renault Megane. In September 2022 I sold the Megane and purchased a Volvo XC40. I paid Halford’s in Sevenoaks £50 on 27 Sep for the removal of the dashcam from the Renault and £70 for its reinstallation into the Volvo XC40 on 13 Oct. Over the following weeks the dashcam would freeze, not turn off or equally not turn on. I visited Halford’s in Sevenoaks where the technician assured me the install was correct . I also contacted Nextbase and they referred me back to Halford’s - the result of this back and forth was that on my second visit to Halford’s they eventually swapped the existing NextBase dashcam on 16 Nov with a new one at no additional cost (although valued at £169 instead of book value of £261). With that change I no longer experienced the same issues with the dashcam. However, on December 26 the Volvo XC40 had a breakdown, whereby the engine worked but the gears would not engage. Volvo Assist and the RAC were in attendance. Over the course of Jan and beginning of Feb an extensive diagnostic was carried out by Volvo Tonbridge. They concluded the way the dashcam had been installed by Halford’s had drained the battery, causing the vehicle’s OBD to not function properly, and causing the breakdown on Dec 26. As Volvo Tonbridge concluded that the issue was related to a non-Volvo product installed by a third party (Halford’s), the diagnostic and repair was considered out of warranty. As a consequence I was charged £430. In contacted Halford’s on Feb 14 asking to be reimbursed for the dashcam which I can no longer use, including a reimbursement of the cost of Volvo’s diagnostic I had to pay out of pocket. Halford’s replied to me on Feb 15 that I would have to pay for ‘an independent report/diagnostic’. I have not heard anything back from Halford’s since."

"I had an appointment at Halfords Sevenoaks Retail Park, TN14 5EW to have front and back dashcams fitted to my car. I originally purchased and had fitted front and rear dashcams from the same store a couple of years ago on another vehicle. I now have another car and phoned the store to explain that I wish to have the dashcams installed in the new vehicle. I explained it was a BMW 5 series & I was told this would be fine but I would need to purchase the nextbase hardwire kits from nextbase as Halfords don't stock them. This I did costing me £50. Today I went along to have them fitted, the installer said that he couldn't fit the Nextbase 312GW to the rear of the car because it was for meant to be fitted in the front only. I explained that Halfords had fitted it to my other car without any issues. I have a 412GW for the front. He contacted someone and then said his senior colleague could in fact fit the 312GW cam to the rear screen, and he would fit the front 412GW but it would take at least two hours. I went away and when I returned I could see none of the cams had been fitted. The fitter said he couldn't install the front one because there was no fuse box in the front of the car, and he would have to run cable from the boot to the front, which he said was not possible. This is not correct, the car has two fuse boxes one by the drivers footwell, and another in the boot. I explained that there was a fuse box in the front, but he said he couldn't find it, and therefore could not install the dashcam. I then spoke to the senior fitter and asked why they couldn't complete the work, he said that the fuses in the car were all 30amp and live all the time, and it was not possible to fit a dashcam to my vehicle. Again this is not true the car has a variety of fuses with differing amperes, some of which are indeed off when the car is switched off. I was also told that I didn't need to buy the hard wire kits as this was included in the £70 installation price. I feel that I have been fobbed off with excuses and incorrect information from staff that have little interest or knowledge in what they are doing. I have had an afternoon of my time wasted, and it's cost me £50 in unnecessary hardwire kits and still don't have the dashcams installed. I have since researched installing the hardwire kits to a BMW 5 Series G30, it's apparently a straightforward affair for a competent fitter, so I'm perplexed as to why I have been fobbed off today."
"Driving a ford transit with two massive batteries to change ! The young chap was very polite - and went back and forth many times - I helped him a bit to get the drivers seat out of the way ! And shortly after he had the batteries in ! Nice one … good service - good staff ….. thanks"
