"With the Pomegranate Theatre under going a major refurbishment, the Winding Wheel stepped in to stage the "Sleeping Beauty "Christmas Panto .I went along to see todays 1pm performance (Mon 2 Jan 2023) having previously purchased 3 adult tickets at the box office located in the tourist information centre. The doors do open an hour before so our arrival 25mins before found access to be pretty smooth with very pleasant staff on duty scanning tickets at the entrance & giving directions to the seats .It beats how many folk ended up in the wrong seats & end up moving when Rows have clear floor signs with small round numbers on the back of the seats infront .The only problem I had was when a very extremely tall family turned up & sat directly in front thus blocking my central view of the stage ...infact I could of done with using a seat booster box their kids had,not ideal having to keep looking each side of the chap infront but unfortunately this can happen with seats all on ground level .There's a Bar with reasonable prices which was open before the show & during the interval & takes cash or card payment. The show itself was very entertaining & very funny at times along with some good crowd interaction,I thought all the cast in the production were very good & adapted well to the surroundings with a special mention for Michelle Collins of Eastenders fame who was excellent & the debutant stand in fairy god mother was brilliant to say she as only called upon a fews hours before the start, I would of given 5* ...if my view had been better but this wasn't the fault of the Theatre ."
"The layout and facilities are far easier to manage with 2 young kids than the pomegranate. It was a little more rough and ready with the seats but the kids loved the panto and I had no complaints on the comfort. Thoroughly impressed with the venue. Would definitely go again."
"The theatre is beautiful, and obviously well cared for. It's easy to find. We took our two young children to see Peppa Pig live (also would recommend), the theatre staff were wonderful, and very patient with exited children and flustered parents. Concessions were reasonably priced, seats were a little hard - not tiered seating which made it a little hard for the kids to see the stage - but there was no issue with the little ones sitting in the aisle for a better view. Would be 5* if seating was a bit better. Other than that, wonderful day out."
"Been and seen them before in the past. Very good singers enjoyed every minute of it"
"It was a beautiful theatre & such an informative evening. The place was packed but no issues getting a beverage in the interval. Felt sound quality could be a bit better though"
