"Went here for a delicious Sunday roast. Great for families as they also have a kids menu and crayons. Very nice service and great pub atmosphere"
"Lovely Victorian grade II listed Young's pub. Enjoyed our visit here for what turned out to be a few drinks, which was only meant to be one. Interior looks great, and it had the nicest wash basins I think I've ever seen. The dining room upstairs is quality, too. We would definitely return."
"We had our wedding at The Bull & Gate earlier this month and it was a perfect venue! The dining room was gorgeous for both the ceremony and the reception, and it was so great not to have to worry about ferrying guests from one venue to another! The staff were amazing, both on the day and in helping with the planning process - big shout out to the amazing Sophie! The food was delicious! And best of all they are super dog friendly, allowing our dachshund to be ring bearer and all his sausage friends to join us for the party later!"
"Second time in this pub to go to a gig. The place is still nice in terms of aesthetics, but this time it smelled like old beer was all over the floor. The beer from a famous brand, was far to fizzy to be an IPA. I'm not sure if it was a bad day or the place has changed a lot, my first visit was much better."
"Let’s start with the positives. The decor is great. A true “pub” feel. The staff were welcoming, accommodating and exactly what you’d expect in a local. The “less” positive. A very limited menu was on offer (beef burger, plant burger or a pie) because of being let down with deliveries - most pubs/restaurants in the Kentish/Camden Town area seem to have the same problem at this point in time. The food looked good when it came out but… The “Guinness game” pie wasn’t venison as stated but tasted more like beef. The taste of Guinness was non existent. The filling salty beyond belief - as was the gravy and the prospect of pairing of an expectant sweet gamey meat with rich Guinness and sweet potato mash and parsnip was too much and I switched out the mash for chunky chips. Worse still, I cracked open the pie and found a lovely **white hair** sitting on top of a chunk of meat… The burger was dry, tasteless and the salad looked and tasted as if it had started to rot."
