"Pretty bang average roast. The beef was a bit tough and the roasties were not crispy enough. Cali cheese was nice but it was like 4 florets in these huge bowls which seemed odd. The Yorkshire was definitely overcooked if not burnt as it like snapped off. Everyone at our table would have given it a solid 7/10 but the service and attitudes of one of the staff in particular dropped the rating completely to the point none of us will be back. As a preface, I never moan and would literally eat the wrong meal if it was put in front of me rather than send it back. However, waiting 20/30 minutes to give our order (fair enough they were busy) but then things like not enough cutlery being brought to the table, not enough water glasses, the gravy taking 20 minutes to come to the point everyone had finished their meals, some of the plates being taken at the end but not all for some random reason.... It was just pretty messy and kind of annoying when you're including a service charge. One of the staff (in a striped t-shirt) also was really quite rude. My friend politely asked if the rest of the dishes could be taken from the table, as again half them and been randomly left despite us clearly being done for ages, as we wanted to chill and digest and he responded with "Well I can only do one thing at once" which was really unnecessary. Later on then also his colleague (who was very nice) was checking to see if there was any space for us to do the quiz, and not 2 seconds after he'd gone to check the same rude staff member came to us and effectively told us to leave immediately with a lot of attitude and being quite rude. We had no problem leaving but we were waiting to see if there was room or not at the team who had the table hadn't even arrived yet. I've never really had anyone speak or look at us with such contempt before and in the back of my mind, can't help but wonder if it was because we were a group of gay people. I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and hope not, but regardless none of us would be back and I'd recommend you go somewhere else in Balham for a roast. There's lots of better options."
"Amazing roast! The food is definitely great and the plates are filling, which is good! Its a cozy pub so it was nice to be there! Christmas time obviously makes it crowded and noisy but in the good way :)"
"We came here for a Christmas dinner on Friday and had a great time. The food was delicious, I had the veggie Wellington and was really surprised at how good it was. The restaurant stayed open until 1am so we were able to stay on the table and chat for a very long time. Overall loved it, would happily come again!"
"I’ve been here for every one of the England WC games and have been amazed by the atmosphere and exemplary service by Jack, Ellen, Daisy and the rest of the team. The food and drinks are top notch - would recommend a visit!"
"Hands down the best pub in South London! Always rely on the Regent giving me the best evening, the drinks, the service the atmosphere, pure class. The staff are top tier, not one of them I have a bad word to say about. Jack has taught the team so well, he’s a great manager and works extremely hard for his passion. Both Charlie’s and Porsha, in particular shine out, they’re so genuine and simply amazing. Can’t wait to visit again."
