"Definitely a family welcoming pub, with the emphasis on family. Toddler and infants galore. Also dog friendly. Beer choice is reasonable and has a decent food menu. Staff are fairly welcoming and service is decent. But because of the fact that so many kids are allowed in, the tables are generally filthy. Food and drink spillages all over the table, food on the floor & under the table and chairs, & as there are only minimal staff in during the day, they don't have time to serve & clean. Decent decor, nice amount of tables & seating, but doesn't feel like a pub. Has an outdoor smoking area. Toilets are clean. Beer prices are a bit on the high side considering the area, but it's to be expected nowadays I suppose. Evenings are a bit more of a pub vibe, more of a buzz, & they have quiz nights too. The type of pub you'd start off in & then move on to the next one - or just go for a munch."
"Great staff, fast service. Didn't try the club like room upstairs but the pub itself has a nice vibe. Would be great to see more sharing plates options as a lot of the food felt quite restauranty"
"Stopped at The Signal last night for a quick pint and some delicious fish and chips. The batter was just right, and super crispy, and the fries that I ordered were also lovely and crispy. I’m not usually a fan of mushy peas, but these were great. Service was fantastic, will definitely be coming back."
"Really lovely local pub with everything you could ask for: ales on tap, many beers, extensive wine list, and a fantastic food menu. The pies are a real treat and are presented beautifully. Lovely welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for a casual get together with friends. I loved the quirky features of the pub like the small steam engine in a glass display box, and the train time display behind the bar so you have one less excuse for missing the last train! Friendly and helpful staff too. What’s not to like?!"
"Great selection of gin and booze, some good house cocktails. Really good Sunday roast, even tho they forgot my Yorkshire pudding! The manager was there and was excellent. Great service, knowledgeable, attentive. Sadly, we went back for food on a Tuesday night and my dishes were disappointing. Tacos (£6 each!) and duck leg salad were all a bit cold and dry. And the ice cream was pretty lame and overpriced for £6.50. There was only 3 of us and the rest of the pub was quiet. The staff weren’t great. One member was brand new and basically didn’t know anything. Fine. The other was bussing empty tables rather than taking away our dirty plates. My gf even took some dirty plates up and left them on the bar and they still didn’t get the hint. TLDR: poor service, disappointing food, good drinks. I will deffo give them the benefit of the doubt and go back again."
