"Not a bad little traditional pub but on our recent visit there were a couple of things that could have been better. We’d reserved a table and when we asked about it we’re just told “It’ll be round there” went looking but didn’t find any table with a reservation - fortunately there were a couple of other seats available. The other thing was having to ask for the pints to be served as pints. Twice going to the bar there was a good inch or so of head served on the draught beer. That said - the food was good and the atmosphere had a nice buzz to it."
"Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. It's the upper end of reasonable but worth it. I had the fish sharing platter for one (£17.50) and washed it down with a golden brew ale (£4.50). Would love to go again. It's a beautiful part of the country."
"As a large group, we reserved a table at The Crown 5 weeks in advance. Not only did The Crown cancel our booking at the last minute, but when met with our confusion as to why we no longer had a booking (an email had been sent at 1pm that day cancelling a 6pm booking, but we hadn't seen it) they were dismissive, rude, and aggressive. After initially implying we were making our booking up (!?), once we showed our confirmation they couldn't have cared less and proceeded to get very aggressive with a male member of our party. The 'manager' at one point declared - "I get paid x pounds fifty an hour, I simply don't care". He couldn't even muster the most basic or terse of apologies. A female member of our party separately asked staff if they would be playing the football on the TVs, and they snapped back equally aggressively "not for you we're f**king not". All it would have taken was a gentle - "I'm really sorry, we took the decision to cancel this evening's bookings so we no longer have a table for you, and I appreciate that's really frustrating but there's nothing I can do, we can serve you drinks and maybe some sharing food at the bar here..." etc., etc., and of course we would have been annoyed but that stuff happens and we would have accepted it. But the attitude of the staff, the swearing, the shouting, the impatience, the aggression, that is just unacceptable. These people should not be working in a central London pub. Off to anger management classes for you all. We ended up at the Lyric pub where the staff tirelessly served food and drink to a squished and animated football crowd with nothing but smiles and patience - take note the Crown."
"Best pub in London!! Staff is amazingly friendly, nice and welcoming, beers are great, this pub is just lovely and perfect for a night out any day of the week, thanks a lot and see you very soon! Cheers!"
"Had lunch here on Sunday and we had really tasty fish and chips and a garlic schnitzel. Honestly I don't understand why we had to pay before as we were sitting in the pub and of course going through the till to go outside and only two tables were taken. The place is big and beautifully designed. Must say it was really clean and service was good - we waited a bit but not too much. We hadn't pies but only saw a few arriving to the table close to ours and they seemed to be so big and tasty! Maybe next time :)"
