"Enquired about a property just now and the attitude of the lady on the phone was appaling. It felt like the agent hated her job, it was uncomfortable to ask any questions and then the phone was put down with a "thank you, bye" mid sentence when I still wanted to clarify a couple bits, never seen anything like this. Very unprofessional."
"To start off with I’d like to say that the woman I spoke to on the phone the day I had my viewing was very professional and welcoming, my two stars go out to her, I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. Where do I start... My contact with Simon from the get go was unwelcoming and unprofessional. He texted to say he was late and instead of greeting and saying “ hi, sorry I’m running late can we make it 10:45 is that ok” . I literally got “ Can we make it 10:45”baring in mind that message was my first contact with him. On top of that I had to ring up the agency to make sure I’d get a confirmation text an hour before as I was worried if I didn’t receive the text my appointment would be cancelled. I then received the text after ringing which was 39 minutes before my appointment not 1hr as was supposed to have been done. A woman very kindly rang me to make sure I had received a text, which I thought was very helpful. Simon arrived at 10:50 and was on the phone, me and my partner were not greeted, no apology for being late, infact we weren’t even acknowledged at all. Simon just walks into the property whilst on the phone having a conversation that was obviously more important than giving us his full attention for the time he had allocated to us. To back this up, after about 2 minutes of us just standing awkwardly waiting he says “ I’ve got to go, just got this flat viewing ” then turns to us and says “ Sorry I was just talking to my friend about a property he’s buying off me”. Perhaps If we had been buyers his attitude towards us would have been slightly different. Regarding showing us around the property he literally walks into the kitchen/living room then the bathroom and that’s it, doesn’t bother to show us the bedroom or walk upstairs to the second bedroom and en suit. When asking what my partner does for a living he goes “ tattoo’s”, which me and my partner both found abit judgmental. My partner happens to have a tattoo on his neck and hand and out of all the jobs, why say my partner is a tattoo artist just because he has tattoos, perhaps Simon thinks we’re living 20 years in the past. Also he kept on mentioning the fact we need a guarantor even tho over text I had already confirmed before hand that I had one. My partner says “ can we pay 6 months in advance” and Simon replies by saying “ yeah but you still need a guarantor”. Why even bring up guarantor when that wasn’t the question asked. There was another occasion where he mentioned guarantor again when like I said I’d already told him we have one. Simons obvious lack of enthusiasm and arrogance which is the only way I could put it has been playing on mine and my partners mind for a week now. Overall we were happy with the property and had had filled in everything we needed regarding the application, but upon every other estate agent treating us like the keen customers we are rather then people not worthy of their time; we have decided not to peruse the flat as we didn’t want to have to deal with Simon again. I sent Simon a message regarding the application and he ignored me, couldn’t even tell me to ring the agents if that’s what I should have done. As Simon is the head man I doubt this review will go anywhere. I just wanted to make other people who are wanting to let aware."
"Got a room in Manchester by simply residential. The communication with one of their staff members via e-mail was exhausting, sometimes time-wasting, even though she was nice. Furthermore , I think it is outrageous that they take cash just for reviewing one's application. But it seems like this is quite of normal in the UK. Since it is not too easy to find affordable accommodation in Manchester, I agreed to that. My room in the Montgomery House was not in a very good state when I got there. The chair and a lamp were broken. It was furthermore dirty. In conclusion: Nobody checked the room before I got there. After I had left Manchester (to be fair: I did not arrange a visit with a letting agent, since the uni got over my head) it took ages for them to repay my deposit. They stopped answering my e-mails, but replied within minutes after I threatened to instruct a solicitor. Nevertheless, they probably offer the cheapest accomodation with 320p/w for students in Manchester (but my room also looked like a prison cell and had the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on.) _______________________ EDIT: It seems to me, that there is no possibility to re-answer an answer,so I will just do it like this: I do not think that you have read the full correspondence of me and your staff member. What I found unprofessional for example: I have been really distressed because I did not receive a contract until two days before I arrived in Manchester, while I have been continuously told that I would not be allowed to access my accomodation if the full three months rent would not have been transfered before. I do not think that this is normal. So I basically got the contract one day before I left to Manchester and had to pay the money and hope that it would arrive on time. Regarding the pictures of my accomodation: Maybe you should compare the pictures that you show on your website to my actual room. I also saw the rooms of other people in the Montgomery House and we all agreed that I got the worst room. So I am not saying that the rooms are in bad shape in general, but mine was. Furthermore you did not reply to my remark that my room was in a really bad state (messy, broken chair, lamps not working) when I got there. You also did not tell me that an agent would check my room 'when he/she was free' but you wrote me 'We will check the property in the next 7 days and arrange for the deposit to be released once checked.' When I wrote you 13 days later, wondering if something happened you did not reply. I then waited another week and asked again - no answer. Another week later I wrote you again, threatening with legal actions and you replied within two hours. Also, I do not believe you that you requested the return of my deposit earlier, since I got an email from DPS that I would get my deposit back one hour after you finally answered my email. Regarding my leaving: Obviously I did not handle that very well, but you must have known that I had already been gone, since you knew the length of my stay. Also, even if it is normal to take a fee just to review one's application, it does not make it just or reasonable. However it was not my intention to distress your collegue and I have deleted her name."
"Simpy residential have been my letting agents for over 10 years. They have always been courteous and efficient. repairs are always carried out promptly and at reasonable cost. They find and vet quality tenants.and the rent is always paid on time. I would thoroughly recommend them."
"Absolutely shocking!!! These guys don't even deserve a one star. Firstly when I went for a viewing the estate agent turned up late, then they was disorganised and didn't know how to answer my questions. I wanted to arrange a second viewing before I signed to make sure I was 100% sure about the property and they wouldn't let me?!? They have ZERO customer service skills. Anyone I phoned was completely rude and unhelpful! Considering they are supposed to be selling/letting properties they make 0% effort to do So! Surprised this company is still going"
