"Staff are amazing!! and I really felt for them and what they have to deal with. The hospital itself is a ****hole, A&E is not fit for purpose, the whole place felt tatty and grubby, carpark lift full of discarded masks (disgusting people) along with other litter and a lanyard. Was there visiting a family member over a few days this weekend, hoping I never land up there myself."
"It's an unexpectedly amazing experience. We arrived here around 1.00 in the afternoon and thought we had to wait for a long long time to see the doctor but only after 40 mins of waiting he saw the doctor and even got the blood test. The test result was surprisingly quick and the doctor gave him anti-sickness dripping which helped a lot. After that, doctor gave us prescription for medicine which we thought the waiting is time consuming but turned out to be quick at the pharmacy. Overall, I felt lucky and grateful to come here and got such a quick and efficient medical treatment. I want to thank the volunteer lady in rainbow glasses. She dealt with our enquiries and talked to me nicely and friendly, which helped lot to relief my worry and anxiety. My boyfriend and I joked that next time when we are sick, we'd rather spend one hour on the train from London and come here rather than waiting in the AE in London for five six hours. Anyway, thank all staff for being friendly and helpful."
"My own experience has been amazing. Both Anna and Nicola (plastics clinical nurse specialists) were so professional and caring. They gave me confidence and complete peace of mind regarding my injury and ongoing recovery. I feel very grateful - thank you NHS ❤️"
"The RSCH isn't the best looking hospital as parts of it are really old and pretty much falling apart. But as someone who has grown up in sussex the RSCH has been a huge part of my life - they saved my dad's life a few years ago and they cared for my grandad so well in the final months of his life too. But i never ever expected that i would one day end up in the RSCH fighting for my life. In April 2020 thats exactley what happend right at the peak of covid i was told my heart was failing because of birth defects that had only just been found in my 30s. I didnt feel like i was dying all i had was severe vertigo but i was slowly dying. A bed was found on the cardiac ward my dad drove me there i hugged my family goodbye incase i never saw them again and i walked in with no idea if i'd ever walk out again. I was alone other than the nurses who were angels - i had to wait a week for my op as my case was so complex and i refused to be sent to London for fear of getting covid. But the nurses despite how busy they were made time to check i was ok and held my hand if i was crying - it meant the world as my world was falling apart. Eventually my op day came and terrfied i told them ive changed my mind the nurse held my hand and with that comfort i was asleep. I woke up in intensive care and it was awful to see the ceiling and no know if i was alive or just dreaming but the nurse asked if i knew where i was all i could say was yep im beside the seaside beside the sea. You see as a sussex girl all my life i trusted the RSCH staff with my life and i knew they'd save me despite even science saying i wouldn't make it the cardiac team here performed true magic. They worked with teams in london and birmingham to plan every part of my op but really the decisions were left to me the paitent as to what i did or didnt want and that was just the best example of the nhs ever. I can never ever thank the cardiac team here enough for making sure that my life went on - they are true heroes and my family is forever grateful. It was the hardest time of my life but the team at the RSCH treated me with such care and kindness it left me with such respect for the job they do. Everyone from catering to the cleaners and the cardiac surgeon was so kind."
"I spent 6 hours at A&E yesterday and received excellent care. I had an X-ray, ECG and blood tests together with a comprehensive consultation with two doctors. It was extremely busy but visitors waited patiently and staff worked steadily to see everyone. Well done!"
