"My daughter was looking at a strappy dress which comes with a top to go underneath. The Male staff member came over and was putting a little pressure on us to buy. She's only 14, so I took the lead and stated that there is no size marked on it and nowhere for her to try it on, so we'd not be buying it. He said that it's one size fits all but it didn't matter anyway as we could get a refund if there was a problem. He took £3 off the price and was really pushing for a sale. My daughter really liked it so I bought it on the understanding that if it didn't fit I could get a refund. It didn't fit and so 2 days later I took the dress back, along with the receipt. This time, the staff member on duty was female. I explained that we'd tried the dress on and it didn't fit and that the male staff member had said we could get a refund. She said "No refund, only store credit". I repeated what the male staff member had said and she put her hand up to stop me speaking (I hate that) and said "I know he not say that" (her English was broken). I again explained that he did say that, and I had two family members with me at the time who can corroborate. She carried on with the 'you're wrong' etc, but said "I give you refund anyway". I thanked her and as she's arranging the refund she's muttering about "I know that's not true, I know he not say that". I just take my money and thank her, not wanting things to escalate. Anyway, as I'm leaving the shop she shouts after me. "Wait wait I show you". I put the refunded money safely in my pocket then walked towards her. She showed me other dresses the same, with different tops to the one that came with my daughter's dress. She said "that top not mine. You swap before you come here". I explained to her that the only time the garments came out of the bag was when my daughter tried them on at home. She said "I know that's not my top. I know you're wrong. But I already give you refund so is ok". Getting rather annoyed by this point, I told her that it WAS the top that came with the dress and no, it wasn't mine. I started walking away and she shouted after me "I know this not my top" so I finally snapped and shouted "Well then you know wrong. I was promised a refund if necessary, the top DID come with the dress and guess what. I'm going to trading standards". Then I walked out. I hate myself for losing my rag with a older lady, but she was adamant I was some sort of con artist. The only con artist is her husband (or whoever the male staff member is to her) because 1)he sold me a dress with a top that doesn't go with it 2)he pushed the sale on me 3)promised me a refund that I almost didn't get. And I get verbally abused in the process. Never going there again, mark my words."
