"My friends and I decided to try Wok and Out after work. We were very excited to try this establishment out for the first time. We ordered 2 different boxes with two toppings each (noodles as the base) One with black bean - beef and sweet and sour chicken. The second with prawn Suichan and salt and pepper chicken. Within minutes of receiving and tasting our food we had realised the food had a stench to it. The smell was so utterly foul, we had to go back to complain. We respectfully explained our experience to the lady who had just served us. Initially she heard us out, however, at no point did she offer us any compensation whether it was through another item or a refund. Instead, she had offered to notify the chef and and said that she could do nothing further. She then proceeded to explain to us that they have been serving customers since “12 noon” and no one has yet complained to further justify her reasons for no compensation. After talking back and forth for a few minutes, she decided to talk to another member of staff over the phone via text (not sure if this was the owner). We were made to stand outside in the cold for nearly 15 minutes whilst she had been liaising with this other member of staff. We were eventually given our refund however, what had led me to write this review was her unprofessional behaviour towards us in the end. This was uncalled for seeing as we had patiently waited outside in the cold for many minutes after receiving smelly food. She became very passive aggressive towards us during the refund process. Not only is this disappointing in terms of food but also in terms of customer service. This was a horrible experience for us and we hope that this can be dealt with so that other customers do not have to go through this. **UPDATE TO MANAGEMENT TEAMS RESPONSE** Thank you for your response. We hope to clear up any misunderstandings from the order of events. Actually we had barely eaten 1/3 of the 2 boxes ordered. Infact we made our complaint within the first 5 minutes of ordering - not possible to finish the food within such a short period of time. We have not discouraged ANY customers to avoid making other orders whilst waiting for your colleague to finish liaising with management team. What has actually happened was (and you colleague was UNAWARE of this as she had been busy liaising with management team over our refund) One other customer was concerned over the oil smell as she had ordered chips. She was being served by a member from CHAATSTREET who had popped into help. Not an item we had ordered. Customer herself was confused to see us standing outside in the cold for a long period of time and then asked us why we were standing there. She smelt our box out her own will and made HER OWN decision. She then proceeded to ask the CHAATSTREET member I want a full refund before taking her completed order (which was still in process). The CHAATSTREET member understood and swiftly gave her money back (she paid in cash). Your colleague did not offer us “various” alternatives. We did make it clear that to order other items from your small menu would be futile as we had ordered 4 different toppings already. I will reinstate that this wasn't even offered to us from your colleague in the first place. The only option as stated before was that she would inform the chef. And that not much else could be done. The only reason this review was made in the first place was out of disappointment because your colleague failed to give us a good service at the very as she was processing our refund. Even after being kind and respectful to your colleague she was not apologetic in the end. She seemed almost frustrated out of defeat that we as paying customers got a refund? The fully boxed food we had to chuck ourselves at the very end not even a gesture of apology to say no worries we will dispose of the food. I hope this clears any misunderstandings. We wish you the very best and hope you can make improvements as needed."
