"Always love going, the first Bar I bring my friends to that are outside of Bolton when visiting for a Fruit of the Forest specifically as the introduction to the bar. Great atmosphere and friendly staff."
"Oldest pub for miles (1251), although rebuilt 1636. Superb interior. Great real ales, including rarely seen brews. Very good and friendly service. Only drawback being no food."
"Very nice old fashioned pub with an interesting history, including an execution and a ghost! A good range of drinks at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and locals as well as great music."
"I loved going into the Scythe on Saturday, not been in for ages! I was cozy, content, with great friends and had the most perfect pint of Guinness. They have an impressive range of ales and other drinks, if you want a top pint then come to the Scythe!!"
"OK. I never expected to find one of the oldest and most historic pubs here in Bolton. Maybe 3rd or 4th oldest surviving pub. Henry 3rd on throne. Lots of English Civil War history. Awful Roundheads behead Earl of Derby who had last pint here. Wonderful pub to visit. Excellent real ale. Had the Dartmoor.Legend. Great cider and perry. Pub should be world famous. Must come back. Oh, excellent pasties by Carrs of Bolton est. 1938. Eat your heart out Gregg's."
