"Interesting clothing but terrible unwelcoming staff ( take your money and passion elsewhere). I tried on a harness ( which I wanted to buy) and put it down to one side while I put my coat back on. A slim lady in a green jumper working behind the counter snarled at me the minute I put it down saying ‘ that didn’t come from there.’ I instantly felt uncomfortable in the shop and almost didn’t know what to say in response. I replied, well I want to buy it, to which she then said ok and very plainly took the harness off me and I paid for the item. I was only interacted with in a really negative way and made to feel like a hinderance in the shop. There are plenty of cool goth style shops out there - give them your custom instead!!"
"I really love this shop (Elysia), I travel from Leeds just to visit it specifically. They sell brands like Sinister and Dark In Love, which are hard to find unless you shop online but it is much better to be able try the clothes on, since they tend to be made really small (especially Dark In Love being an Asian brand). So I'm really happy this place exists. I've tried clothes on multiple times and they never had an issue with it. They don't seem to mind if you spend a lot of time looking at things either. The shop owners seem pretty down to earth and friendly. The shop is small, a bit cramped, but they stock quite a variety of clothes. It is absolutely worth visiting if you like this style of clothing. They also stock corsets, bags and jewellery."
"Bought a pendant. Store is definitely worth checking out. Items in the store are great. The staff was awesome, very helpful and super nice. Space is a little crammed, but otherwise great store!"
"Awful - items in the shop were alright, not the best but the staff were extremely rude to me and my partner, he was looking to buy a chain from there and on the phone while looking and the staff asked us to move out of the way then while my partner was still on the phone about to buy the chain the woman rudely asked if we were looking in the shop and we said that we were looking all around and once we said that she immediately and very disrespectfully told us to 'get out of my doorway' and once we kindly moved to the side of her shop while my partner is still trying to speak to someone on the phone she again tells us to get out of her shop, while we were debating about getting the chain which we thought was incredibly rude of her considering we did nothing wrong. I felt quite upset about this rudeness and I felt completely victimised. Do not spend your money here, staff is utterly awful!"
"This review is for Elysia specifically. The clothing and items in this place are great, very beautiful, but I had an awful experience when I went there yesterday. I went in wanting to buy/try on a dress I liked but the man behind the counter wouldn’t let me even it on because ‘I’m pretty sure it won’t fit you’. Now, I’m not a big person, but in that moment I was made to feel so absolutely awful and ashamed of myself. I left with a smile that soon melted into tears when I rounded the corner to the stairs. My partner (the hero of this story), without me knowing, decided to have a look himself and bought the dress for me (which I’m told was an effort in and of itself). When I tried it on it fit perfectly (it was even labelled size 12-14 and I’m a size 12). So I was made to feel horrible for no reason and the experienced almost ruined my view of the entirety of Affleck’s. Thankfully it hasn’t but I will no longer be buying anything from Elysia."
