"This is my second time in Chettinad after 4/5 years. I had ordered paneer chukah, vegetarian thali, mysore masala dosa and salted lassi. Food was decent, staff was nice and service was prompt. Personally, I didn’t find preparations outstanding for which I will travel all the way and pay double the price when I have easy access to Sarvana Bhavan and thats why I am giving 3 stars. Many of the curries were low on salt, and sambhar was not served piping hot. In thali too there could be little improvisation in terms of variety and taste giving plain dal, chola, sambhar so effectively 3 lentils and 2 vegetables where as in menu it was mentioned 4 vegetables. Though staff, did gave me extra sambhar on request to finish my rice portion so I would say staff was very courteous and they even redid my lassi as it was totally bland and not like lassi we get in South India. Of all I had eaten I would recommend panner chukka the most. If you are in Central area, and craving for South Indian food - its decent option."
"Finally got an Authentic South Indian Cuisine restaurant to try in London. Must visit restaurants if you want to try South Indian cuisine. The ambience was very nice. Just that we had a few suggestions to offer and I hope they would consider it and improve for better results and make people come back again."
"We visited them twice in a weeks time. Once was dinner and we ordered fish curry, prawns curry and tomato rice. It was good food but service was mayhem. It looked like they are having a shortage of staff. I was craving to eat some veg food so went again today to have veg Thali. It was very average and service even worse. The curries on the veg thaali had no taste whatsoever and most disappointing was the Sambar! I can’t understand how can Sambar be lacking flavor. I think it’s good to stick to what they are good at, perhaps curries and I saw lot of them order dosas. We won’t visit again. It was about 22 pounds for a veg thaali which is a lot considering the food quality and the location , my hubs had the chettinad thali which was priced higher. A quick advise, if you are planning to order meals then please don’t order papad as an appetizer because they anyways give that to you with melas and you can save about 4£. A small thing but somehow the waiter didn’t feel it was important to tell this. Waited for dessert after the thaali for maybe 10 Plus minutes because the team was very confused but even after it came to our table we couldn’t eat it as it was loaded with oil kesari."
"Food was authentic, considering we are from Chennai/Erode, the taste was mind blowing. Reminded us of our hometown and mom’s cooking. The ambience of the restaurant is pleasant. All the staff were friendly and the service was excellent. Our favourite is the aadu chukka & chettinad thali. Kesari for dessert literally melts and ignites the taste buds. Overall was a lively experience and will visit again along with recommending to friends."
"Food was okay but not authentic 'South Indian'. The chicken biryani portion was small and the taste could have been better. The prawn starter was good. Not many options for Vegetarian. The ambience was good and a great customer service by Jey."
