"My daughter myself and 8year granddaughter attended this restaurant for dinner. We were greeted at the door and although we did not have a reservation we we were seated in a nice comfortable spot. These is a variety of African and west Indian dishes on the menu. The dishes we selected were delicious. I order fish but did not like the way it was prepared not any fault of the cook just my personal preference. The rest of the food was good. My granddaughter had ice cream after the meal and could not finish it as it was a generous portion. The bill was not extortionate and the service charges were reasonable. Food very filling."
"We had a lovely time here. We went in and asked for a selection of food for one veggie and one meat-eater and were served a huge plate with at least six different things that were all vegan and yummy! The meat option was delicious, too. The chef was very friendly and helpful and came out to speak to us about the different foods we had. We really enjoyed our meal - it was very tasty and great value for money!"
"Mama’s restaurant is an absolute gem in this area. A great family atmosphere accompanies delicious, nutritious and authentic Ethiopian food made with love and care. Very kind and friendly staff with a hospitable atmosphere. And, the music is always sublime! As a regular, I recommend this spot to all my friends and it is always a joy to introduce new people to my favourite restaurant!"
"Very authentic Ethiopian food. Incredibly good value and always seriously delicious. We had the Yetesom Bayeynetu (mixed vegetables with enjera) for two"
"My new ‘local go-to’ takeaway spot. They are prepared for those who are unfamiliar with Ethiopian food like I was- no menu was handed over, our group of four was just asked ‘how many vegans, how many meat?’ We went for two vegan, two meat, and none of us were disappointed after sharing the spoils. We got it on the way home from having a couple of drinks at ‘The Palm’ after being somewhat underwhelmed by their menu, namely the price/portion size ratio on offer there. The pancake-like bread that came with the meal was incredible- freshly made (1 per person, and nearly two feet wide!!) we would break a piece off and use it instead of cutlery. This aerated bread mops up any flavoursome juices while the hint of citrus it carried really lifted the flavours of the rest of the food. Four people with huge appetites and we still had leftovers, and it really wasn’t too heavy at all. The price tag is great, too. £40-£45 for all 4 people. If you get bored of the pub food next door, or just fancy a takeaway on the way home, I heartily recommend this friendly place which welcomed and nourished a group who were unsure of what to order."
