"Staff were very friendly and helpful, set us up with a table for dinner even though the restaurant area was full. Very cosy with the stove in the main room, several friendly dogs sitting around. Food was tasty and generous portions - onion rings in particular were great! We had to leave before dessert to carry on our journey on the A1 but they gave us some mince pies to take away, lovely!"
"We called In today on the off chance of Sunday lunch. We was very much rewarded with a lovely roaring fire, great service from all the waitresses and the best Sunday meal ever! We will definitely be back again in the very near future."
"Working in Darrington so we decided to treat ourselves to a meal here on the last night. What can I say!! Hands down the best mixed grill I have ever had in all my 30 years of working away. Quality meat and the sides were just as good. Absolutely amazing. That chef is top drawer. I hope we get to work there again and soon."
"Always heard that the spread had great food...But never came as it was in the opposite direction to me. Today decided to come for lunch. Upon entering it was a cosy laid back pub, which I loved... I hate pubs where it's full of loud people drinking for their lives! We got seated by the window in the bar area and opted for a Sunday lunch,. A pie bar snack, extra veg, and two desserts. What I didn't know at the time was the waiting time. Be warned there is a long wait for food. I was later told that it is because they are very popular and the kitchen is very small so it's hard to pump out high volumes of food... But trust me... It was worth the wait. The belly pork which the waitress helped me choose over beef was delicious, vegetables cooked just right, roast potato soft and full of flavour and that Yorkshire pudding... It was so light and fluffy!!! Partners chicken and leek pie snack... That was so tasty as well... Normally they can be dry but this one at the Spread was full of flavour moist and the pastry again yummy. We ordered dessert, I can never resist a creme brulee ...And I'm biased I will always say every creme brulee is good!!! My partner got the sticky toffee pudding...To me I'm like pah, no thanks...But wow... Would I be training my creme brulee if I said the sticky toffee pudding was better ! It was sweet but not sickly. It had. A great moist chew to it and the quality of the ice cream... And ingredients used in the home made food was excellent The young waitresses ... Don't be biased. Yes they are young but you can tell they live working there. And knowledgeable. Highly recommend I have found another one of my top fav places to eat in the world Thank you The spread, compliments to the chef today and the staff who served us"
